Launch guide

How to start a VPN reseller business.

A useful launch plan starts with your customers and costs. This guide takes you from choosing an audience to testing a paid subscription, using the WL-VPN reseller platform.

1. Choose the customer you can serve well.

Decide who will buy from you and why. You might already support customers as an IT provider, sell digital services or run an online community. Write down the devices those customers use, the help they will need and how you will reach them.

If you are still choosing a business model, compare reselling with affiliate referrals. Build a clear offer around those needs. Explain the supported devices and what a subscription includes. Avoid promising universal access to websites, guaranteed speeds or anonymity that you have not established.

2. Calculate the cost of a sale.

WL-VPN’s standard credit price is £0.50. A one-month account uses 4 credits, so its standard cost is £2. A 12-month account uses 36 credits and costs £18. See the full price table and resale calculator.

Your selling price must also cover payment fees, customer support, refunds, marketing and other business costs. Test different selling prices before committing to a promotion. If you expect larger customer numbers, ask about volume discounts.

Keep enough funds and credits available for renewals. A low initial selling price is not useful if the ongoing work costs more than the income it produces.

3. Create your reseller account and test a VPN account.

  1. Create a reseller account and complete email verification if requested.
  2. Review your Credits & Billing page, confirm your rates and top up so your credit balance is positive.
  3. Create a test VPN account using the 24-hour trial plan. The trial consumes no credits but requires that positive balance.
  4. Use a supported client to connect and confirm that the credentials work.
  5. Check how to find the subscription’s expiry date and extend an account.

Follow the panel walkthrough for the account and renewal steps. Use test details you control. Make sure your customer instructions match the actual app and devices you intend to support.

4. Set up your brand and sales channel.

You can start by managing accounts manually in the panel. If your account has a shop enabled, follow the storefront setup guide before sharing the shop link. If you already have a website or billing system, the reseller API can connect it to account provisioning.

Custom app branding is a separate account configuration. Agree the platforms, branding assets, any costs and delivery arrangements before advertising a branded app. See the app options for the questions to resolve.

5. Prepare the customer experience.

You own the customer relationship and first-line support. For a platform issue, use your reseller support ticket to give WL-VPN the information needed to investigate.

6. Test the complete journey before launch.

Walk through discovering the offer, registering, buying, receiving access, connecting and renewing. Confirm what happens when payment fails or a subscription expires. Use the payment provider’s test environment where available, and clearly separate test accounts from real customers.

Then start with a manageable group of customers. Track paid customers, renewals, support workload and the amount left after costs. Use those results to improve your offer before increasing marketing spend.
