Reseller vs affiliate

VPN reseller or affiliate: choose the work you want to own.

Reselling means selling a VPN service to your own customers. An affiliate typically introduces customers to another provider and earns commission under that provider’s programme. The right choice depends on how much of the customer experience you want to manage.

How the reseller numbers work

At WL-VPN’s standard price of £0.50 per credit, a one-month subscription costs 4 credits, or £2. The recommended resale price is £4.99. That leaves £2.99 gross profit before payment fees, support, advertising, refunds and other expenses.

For 100 one-month subscriptions, those figures become £200 in credit costs and £499 in sales, leaving £299 before other costs. This is a single subscription term, not a forecast of recurring income or guaranteed sales.

Higher customer volumes may qualify for credit discounts. Use the resale calculator to compare terms at standard rates, then confirm the rates assigned to your account. Affiliate returns cannot be compared fairly without the actual commission, eligibility and payout rules of the programme you are considering.

When reselling can make sense

You may already have customers who ask for VPN access, an established support channel or a related service you can sell alongside it. Reselling gives you control over the offer, but you also need to explain setup, handle customer questions and keep the payment-to-account journey working.

Before choosing this route, identify who will answer support requests, how you will take payments and how you will track expiry dates. The panel walkthrough shows the day-to-day account work; the storefront guide covers an available sales channel.

When referrals may fit better

If your main strength is publishing useful content or reaching an audience, and you do not want to run subscriptions or product support, an affiliate arrangement may be a better fit. You still need to understand how referrals are tracked, which purchases qualify and when commissions can be reversed.

This is a comparison of business models, not an offer of a WL-VPN affiliate programme. Check a provider’s current written terms before relying on any commission figures.

Decide before you build.

  1. Choose whether you want to own the customer offer or refer customers elsewhere.
  2. Estimate the time you can spend on setup, renewals and support.
  3. Compare income after realistic costs, including your time.
  4. Test the service and customer journey before promoting it.
